I also have a 17.5in Trek Carbon Fuel 98, which fits me like a glove. The Trek has a 80mm stem and straight bar and I feel I could easily handle a 100mm stem (the Trek effective top tube length is 23.1in). My advice to you would be to take the 18in frame.
